Member Spotlight: Meet Kristen DuBois
Hi there, I'm Kristen DuBois, owner of BlushTan™ Summit, Livingston resident, and first-time mom of an 8-month old baby. (Life is crazy but in the best way possible!) I always get asked how I ended up in the spray tanning business. My journey began in 2012 when one of my college girlfriends let me in on her beauty secret: the credit for her natural glow was all thanks to a small business in town called BlushTan™.

Recently, The Harvard Business Review posted an article about how coworking spaces have a positive impact on one's well-being. Coworking spaces are "more interpersonally satisfying than working from the office or from home. One big reason is that coworking sites offer better opportunities for employees to relationally craft their jobs — that is, pick which other professionals they engage with during the workday, and how."

I started Evergreen Activewear in COVID while I was pregnant with my son. As I became more and more pregnant, I become more and more frustrated with the activewear in the market for pregnant and postpartum bodies. With my previous business (Event planning) mostly shuttered due to the pandemic, movement and exercise became my job and I quickly realized there must be better options out there for pregnancy.

I was born in Brooklyn, raised in Springfield, New Jersey, and now live in Summit -- with stops at Bard College (BA), Cornell University (MA), and Hoboken -- in between. I've spent my professional career as a book publicist, primarily representing authors of non-fiction books, particularly in the business space. However, I have always been a writer -- since childhood. My debut novel, TYPECAST, was released in September 2022.

At the end of the day, we're all looking for connection. To others, to ourselves, and to our work; to feel a sense of purpose or grounding. Maya Angelou is one of the most famous female poets, authors, and civil rights activists of our time. She's one of the many female leaders who not only created connections among people, groups, and races but also embodied undeniable leadership skills.
