Member Spotlight: Meet Marta Nowicka

A brief introduction - I am a Polish national who relocated to Summit, NJ in December 2019, just before the pandemic started. Thinking about my story, I was born and raised in a communist Poland. I believe that influenced my career as a coach/trainer and as an artist. Since early childhood, I dreamt of travelling and meeting people from different cultures. Unfortunately due to the political system, it was not possible until I was a teenager. When it became possible, I started travelling and became fascinated by different countries, cultures, architecture and landscapes. I believe that is one of the reasons I am an intercultural trainer now. I can also see that legacy in my art. My memories from communism are full of grey colors - streets, buildings, clothes. I think that's why I love color so much in my art - especially bold, vibrant colors. When creating, I am inspired by my travels, color, shapes, people and emotions evoked by those things.

I have 2 different businesses.

Most recently, I am a visual artist - an abstract painter, printmaker and designer. My goal is to bring joy, energy and other positive emotions via my art. I love exploring the interactions between colors, shapes and textures. I paint abstract paintings, create monotypes and digital art. I have created a variety of products that can bring joy and color to your interior - original paintings and prints, as well as products and clothes featuring my art.

I am also an intercultural trainer, expat coach, life and business coach. For more than a decade, I have been preparing people for relocation to different countries, helping them to be more efficient and happy in a new environment. I have trained hundreds of top level employees (and their families) working in Fortune Top 500 multinational corporations. I also deliver intercultural and D&I group workshops. As a coach, I support people working in multinational environments and also those who feel stuck in their work or career. I help them to discover a career that is aligned with their values, needs, experience and competencies, then we plan steps that will support that change.

Although these two businesses seems completely separate, I am finding ways to connect them. I use art as a visual metaphor in my coaching sessions and I have created products that support that process including coaching cards and journals featuring art and coaching questions.

I believe The Co-Co is a great platform to connect with people and also promote and develop my business.
