I’m a board-certified internist and for many years I’ve been medically advocating for family and friends on an informal basis. Over this time, I saw up close how overwhelming and frustrating it can be for patients to maneuver through the complexities of the healthcare system.

This is especially true when patients are sick and at their most worried and vulnerable. I recognized that these challenging periods are when it was most critical to have a dedicated medical professional who listens, thoroughly answers questions and provides guidance about the best course of action to take. These experiences motivated me to establish a practice that was dedicated to helping patients have positive interactions and outcomes with an increasingly challenging and fragmented medical world.

Last year, I founded Seneca Medical Advocacy to serve those patients. My business helps those who need assistance navigating complex medical situations, from a short-term consult to support during a chronic illness. Seneca Medical Advocacy offers a range of services, including help understanding a complicated diagnosis, sorting through treatment options, making informed decisions about care, and facilitating communication between medical providers.

As I was about to launch my business, I went on the hunt for a coworking facility in the area. I discovered The Co-Co through a local list serve and was energized by the idea of a woman owned and operated co-working space that also created a woman-centered community of entrepreneurs.

There are, of course, plenty of networking opportunities, but I love the sharing of skills and perspectives, which happens in such a supportive and organic way at The Co-Co. Through its smart and ambitious members I’ve accrued knowledge and received valuable guidance in critical business areas such as marketing, branding, and networking, as well as a number of interesting issues unrelated to the working world.
