Social Impact Series: Women and Work Post-COVID

This event was hosted virtually the 18th of May, 2021

As vaccines have become more available, we are beginning to imagine a post-COVID future.  This panel will address the dramatic effect of COVID-19 on women’s careers in this time.  As reported in Forbes this winter,

“Women were 4x more likely to leave their jobs and 3x more likely to sacrifice their career for their family. Of the 150,000 jobs lost in December 2020, all belonged to women. The term SHEcession may have seemed premature when first used last spring, but the economic consequences have multiplied, especially for women of color. These are not small blips, they are major setbacks to the gains we have made in the labor force for the past 25 years.”

Through data, conversation, and the experience of our panelists and community, we aim to surface the issues and potential solutions to support the recovery from the SHEcession and possibilities for a re-ordering of work and life in the post-COVID future.
