Member Spotlight: Meet Hope Coppinger
I grew up in Boston and came to New Jersey in 1997. When my husband and I first arrived in New Jersey, we started out in Cape May and then moved to Montclair. I've lived in Morristown since 2007, and as happy as I was to venture out of New England, I still spend a lot of time looking for rocky beaches and pine trees. I've worked in communications predominantly for colleges and, for a few years, a local conservation organization. I have a Master's in Education and an MFA in Creative Writing (with a few published stories!), which means my thinking tends to take the shape of lesson plans and story arcs. I especially love to consider the various ways people use information and how they arrive at an event or an experience, so that I can help people feel at ease, more welcome, and make those experiences more meaningful, whether they're in person or virtual.
Working Thread designs strategies with purpose in order to expand audiences and strengthen relationships for non-profits, businesses, and teams within larger organizations: pinning down that annual communications calendar, designing a short-term fundraising campaign, expanding social media reach, planning an event. Other strengths include brainstorming to find the "hook" (or, you know, "the thread"), editing, and content development across platforms. Working Thread also loves to dive into that conundrum of "we send too many emails, but no one reads our emails."
I found The Co-Co through a friend's link to another member or something similarly indirect! I came to the Camp Co-Co session on Branding Values and joined that day. I've only been to a couple of events, but I've enjoyed meeting new people and sharing ideas. Having a "hub" gives me a lot of motivation and a sense of community.
